A Blue Discovery

Gardening . . . why does one begin such a time consuming, messy task? One must labor hard to get good results in the garden. So why would anyone begin their own when they could just purchase their produce from the local grocery store?

For me, I want a chemical free life to save myself from the consequences. My grandfather was a farmer and had cancers of different kinds due to the fact he used chemicals for fertilizing his crops. Most farmers are expected to get cancer of some type due to this fact. I want to lead a life pleasing God and honoring Him with my body by taking good care of it and being informed.

My early adventuring began with going organic in the grocery store, but it costs more. Due to the fact that I am a graduate with many school bills, every penny counts. So I began to look into gardening.
What I eat most often and consistently are blueberries. I found out it takes about two years to mature a blueberry plant before one may enjoy its fruit. Luckily, the store sells two-year-old plants. After an expansive search, I found a website that most thoroughly covered what I need to know about raising a blueberry plant (http://www.blueberry.org/gardening.htm).

Due to a small yard (actually not that small, but my family does not want me to use the yard), I am making a deck garden. Today I plan to get my plants, pots, and compost, etc. at the grocery store! Cannot wait to get started on having my own blueberries!
